Obituary

Glenna Gayle Thompson was born August 12, 1928 in rural Norton County, KS on a homestead near Edmond to Homer and Nelle (Dean) Thompson. She departed this life on November 6, 2012 in Logan, KS at the age of 84.

Gayle was raised on the farm near Edmond with her two siblings, Hope and "Pete". She attended school at Edmond graduating with the class of 1946. After graduation she worked as a switchboard operator for the Edmond Telephone Company.

On August 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to W.I. "Bill" Noone at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Almelo, KS. The couple continued to make their home in New Almelo until 1955, at which time they moved to a farm south of Densmore. They were blessed with three children: Thomas, Kaylene, and Robert.

Gayle was a farmer's wife, always favoring her blue jeans and never afraid to get her hands dirty, helping Bill with cattle and any other chores needing done on the farm. She loved the outdoors and their dogs, cats, and other animals found around the place. Gayle was an excellent seamstress (when not cursing her sewing machine) making clothes, curtains, etc. for her kids and grandkids.

She and Bill loved to travel when they got the opportunity, venturing to Europe, Hawaii, and many other places across the U.S. They also always enjoyed having their children and grandchildren visit them on the farm. Gayle and Bill continued to live on and work the farm until his death on July 2, 1988.

Gayle remained on the farm until she married Dale "Doc" Dean on January 11, 1991 in Logan. Gayle then moved to Stockton, KS where she and "Doc" enjoyed many happy memories together. They also traveled a great deal, going on cruises and spending the cold winter months in Arizona several times. Gayle enjoyed her flower beds and their home in Stockton showcased her green thumb.

Over the years Gayle was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society of Densmore, St. John's Church Choir, Norton County EHU, and Norton County Democratic Women's Association. Other activities included selling Avon and Mary Kay products and listening to music.

Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Nelle; her sister, Hope; her husband, Bill; and an infant grandson, Daren.

She is survived by a brother, Pete Thompson of Moore, OK; her son, Thomas Noone and wife, Normadine of Hays, KS; daughter Kaylene and husband, Butch Davis of Catherine, KS; and son Robert Noone and wife, Janell of Logan; along with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 9, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. John's Catholic Church, Logan, with Father George Chalbhagam officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Densmore, KS.

Visitation will be Wed. from 5 – 9 p.m. and Thurs. from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home in Logan, KS. A Scriptural Wake service will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with the family receiving friends afterwards until 9:00 p.m.
