Gordon Harold Ingram, resident of Almena, Kansas, passed away on December 1, 2020 at the Norton County Hospital at the age of 82.

Gordon Harold Ingram was born on March 11, 1938 in Sherman County Kansas with a twin sister, Gloria Helene McChesney (Ingram).  He was born to Levina (Brannock) and John Ingram and was one of four children.

Gordon started his first job in late of 1949 delivering newspapers before he moved to Norton in 1952. He attended Norton Junior and Senior High School and graduated in 1956. He began working for his Uncle Quentin Ingram at the service station where he washed windshields and parked cars. Later Uncle Quentin purchased a motor scooter for Gordon to ride around town.

They filled the basket on the scooter with dry ice and Gordon would sell ice cream, fudge bars, soda and other items to the city employees working outside as well as he would park across the street from the Dairy Queen.

Gordon also worked in construction and also for the Scott Brantley Funeral home in Norton Kansas where he met the love of his life Twila Marlene Nash. He was hired by Twila's grandmother Bertha to deliver a Hope Chest to Twila as a graduation present.

Gordon married Twila on August 25, 1957 and spent 63 years together. He had two children Deanna Lynn Isabell and Craig Eugene Ingram. Gordon and his family moved from Norton to Trenton Missouri, Beloit Kansas, Salina Kansas, Denver Colorado, Colorado Springs and finally to Long Island and Almena Kansas.

Gordon has four grandchildren and six great grand children and many nieces and nephews. He had a tremendous love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. They were his world and he was loved very much by them.

Gordon was a hard working man all of his life. He had several jobs including managing the Norton Country General Store for  several years before finding a job with Kansas State Parks.  He worked at the Prairie Dog State Park for several years. He enjoyed maintaining the park and mowing. Gordon spent a lot of time in the park even when he was not working visiting family, camping, fishing, and even just driving around the lake. The park was one of his favorite locations.

Gordon served for several years in the National Guard where he was Honorably Discharged.

Gordon is survived by his wife Twila, and a sister Pamela Martin and brother Duane Ingram, daughter Deanna, and his son Craig and wife Genie Ingram. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents John and Levina, his twin sister Gloria, a niece Brianna Cano, and his son-in law Gary Isabell.

Cremation was chosen.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
