Obituary

Grace Myers, 101, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 in Topeka.
She was born September 21, 1911, in Cora, Smith County, Kansas, the daughter of Lon and Gertrude (Shepardson) Jennings. She attended elementary and high school in Lebanon, Kansas, and after graduation became a teacher in a rural school in Smith County.

Grace and Lawrence "Brownie" Brown were married June 12, 1932. They moved to Phillipsburg in 1946. Grace worked in a cleaning shop and dentist's office before going to work as Women's Editor for the Phillips County Review newspaper in 1961.

Grace was a long time member of Business and Professional Women's Club, Women's Civic Organization in Phillipsburg, life member of Kansas Women's Golf Association and for 43 years was the memorial chairman of the American Heart Association in Phillips County.

Brownie died in 1984. Five years later Grace married Maurice "Spec" Myers. Spec died and Grace moved to Aldersgate Village in Topeka in 1996. She was Library Chairman at Aldersgate a number of years.
In 2009 she attended her 80th high school class reunion in Lebanon.

Her son Keith Brown predeceased her. A son, Kenneth Brown and his wife Ellen, a daughter-in-law Georgia Brown of St. Louis, and 3 grandchildren survive her.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, February 4 in Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village, Topeka. Graveside services will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Phillipsburg on Wednesday, February 6, at 2 p.m.
