Obituary

Hardy Lee McCue, 85, left the Phillips County Retirement Center and entered his heavenly home on Saturday, January 29, 2011.

He was born October 13, 1925 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to George "Troy" and Mina (Farley) Mitchell. They moved to Kansas when he was three years old, where he was adopted by Earl and Nellie McCue. He grew up in Glade, KS where he attended the Tanyard School. At age 19, Hardy joined the Navy and served in Newfoundland and Canada for two years. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 33 years, retiring in 1979.

Hardy married Marlene Craig in September, 1957 and to this union four daughters and one son were born. The couple later divorced.

His hobbies included fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Phillipsburg and enjoyed attending the Men's Prayer Breakfast on Saturday mornings.

Hardy was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Nellie McCue; his birth parents, Troy and Mina Mitchell; his sister, Evelyn VanDerHyde and an infant brother.

Survivors include his sisters: Ruth Hanchett of Phillipsburg; June Bray of Canyon Lake, CA and Merna Derrick of Dallas, TX; his children, Debra Horn and friend, Martin Koger of Parsons, KS; Thomas McCue of Twin Falls, ID; Kathy McCue and friend, Delano Bates of Plainville, KS; Tina Rogers and husband, Randall and Darleta McCue of Twin Falls, ID; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Hardy will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wed. Feb 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dave Pugh Officiating.

Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Phillips County.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 Monday & 9 to 9 Tuesday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 Tuesday evening.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Assembly of God men's prayer breakfast.
