Obituary

Harlan Duane Morgan, third son of Lyle & Bernice (Miller) Morgan, was born February 6, 1925 in Crystal Township on the homestead of his Grandfather W.T. Morgan, 10 miles North of Agra. He passed away February 7th, 2012 at the age of 87 years, 1 day at the Phillips County Hospital.
Harlan attended school at District #48 and #52 in Crystal Township and 3 years at Agra High School before enlisting in the United States Navy in July, 1943. He received basic training at Camp Farragut, Idaho and then served in the Pacific from 1943 to 1946 on the USS Leonis and USS Palau. He was discharged on March 11, 1946.
Harlan worked at the Hanke Foundry in Kensington, the Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company in Phillipsburg, and as a self- employed carpenter. After retiring, he worked as a maintenance man for Kensington Housing.
On August 26, 1951, he was united in marriage to Elaine Kinyon. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2011. To this union 1 son and 2 daughters were born.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Bernice Morgan; three brothers: Cliff, Harold and Leonard; two sisters, Doris Seems and Donna Chestnut; and son-in-law, Kerry Jarvis.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Elaine of the home in Agra; son, Duane Morgan and wife, Laura of WaKeeney, KS; daughters, Charlene King of Collyer, KS and Roberta Jarvis of Phillipsburg, KS; grandchildren: Jesse Morgan (Bobbie) Ogallah, KS; John Morgan (Jennifer) Smith Center, KS; Gina Long (John) Smith Center, KS; Sheila Bethel (Jay) Hays, KS; Heather Morgan, Hays, KS; Tavis King (Deb) DeLand, Florida; Nic King, Collyer, KS; Klint Jarvis (Katie) Phillipsburg, KS; Tyler Jarvis, St. Ignatius, Montana; Kurtis Jarvis, Phillipsburg, KS; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Lloyd Seems, Smith Center, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Patrick Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the West Cedar Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Navy.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 9:00 Saturday & Sunday at the funeral home.
