Obituary

Harold Dean "Johnnie" Parsons was born July 30, 1925 in Stratton, Colorado to Wilbur and Elvina (Rogensees) Parsons and passed away November 14, 2012 at Logan.

At the age of 17 Johnnie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served through 1946. He participated in the invasion of Saipan in 1944, the battle of Iwo Jima in 1945 and the occupation of Japan at the war's conclusion.

On October 9, 1947 he married his loving and devoted wife, Wauneta Hutchinson. They raised four children, DeeAnn, Max, Paula and Jill.

Johnnie was a dedicated employee for 46 years with DG Hansen Trust as a production superintendent. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion and VFW. He also served on the Logan City Council.

He is survived by his wife Waunnie, son, Max (Karen) Parsons, Ness City,
daughters, DeeAnn (Monk) Ward, Hays, Paula Stutterheim, Prairie View, Jill (Ray) Lampe, Bennington. Grandchildren, Annie & Randy Diederich, AJ Ward & Cathy, Dustin & Aimee Parsons, Brandy & Jeremy Coozennoy, Barry & Kesava Parsons, Heather & Mark Solberg, Will & Jamie Stutterheim, Cody, Weston & Sarah Lampe, 10 great grandchildren and one sister Zella Grey, California.

He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Spencer Stutterheim, his parents, brothers Lloyd, Donald, Virgil and Bob, sisters, Dorothy and Margie.

Johnnie loved Logan, a great community to call home. He enjoyed the outdoors and shared his love of gardening with many people. He was always there to lend a helping hand and his loving, caring nature was known by many. In 2008 Johnnie traveled with the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to see memorials that were dedicated to veterans for their service to the country. On February 5, 2012 Johnnie was honored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9076 and was presented the Saipan Liberation Medallion.
