Hazel (Wolters) Jansonius, daughter of Herman & Elizabeth (Tillema) Wolters, was born February 20, 1925 in rural Prairie View, Kansas and passed away August 10, 2015 at Logan Manor in Logan, Kansas at the age of 90 years.
She was born on a farm known as the Colsman Place and grew up in various places around Prairie View, graduating from Prairie View High School with the class of 1943.
On November 3, 1944 Hazel married Harold Jansonius and took up the life of a farm wife. They were blessed with three children - Rodney, LeWayne and Elaine. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary 10 months prior to Harold's death in 1995.
Hazel was a member of the Prairie View Reformed Church, where she was an organist for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents, Herman & Elizabeth Wolters; a brother, Alden Wolters; a sister, Marilyn Allen Whitsitt; her daughter-in-law, Rita Jansonius; and her granddaughter, Jessica Y. Jones.
Survivors include her sons, Rodney Jansonius & wife, Janet, of Prairie View, KS and LeWayne Jansonius & wife, Marcia, of Stilwell, KS; her daughter, Elaine Jones & husband, Richard, of Phillipsburg, KS; three sisters: Wauneta Schemper of Norton, KS; Dolores Walcott of Albuquerque, NM; and Rose Erickson of Phillipsburg, KS; six grandchildren: Jacob Jansonius, Sheresa Brull, Jennifer Duley, Faye Weant, Joni Goodsell and Sara McAdoo; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the Prairie View Reformed Church, Prairie View, KS with Pastor Aaron Rust officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie View Cemetery.
Mrs. Jansonius will lie in-state on Wednesday & Thursday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with the family receiving friends Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Prairie View Reformed Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
