Helen Fern Harris, 95, of Indiana and formerly of Phillipsburg, KS, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and Jack Frank, in Indiana.
She was born May 3, 1916, to the late Albert and Elsie Ward Standley, in Lucas, KS.
Helen married Lawrence A. Harris in 1936. They owned and operated the Phillipsburg Cleaners in Phillipsburg from 1962 until 1984. Helen was a member of the Phillipsburg United Presbyterian Church. She missed her home in Kansas, but she was happy to have the opportunity to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren often in Pennsylvania. Helen took part in many family celebrations and vacations.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeannette Frank and husband Jack of Indiana; two grandchildren: Janelle Reinoso and husband Juan, of Houston; and Jeffrey Frank and wife Courtney, of Butler; four great granddaughters: Sophia and Elise Reinoso and Effie and Vivian Frank; one sister, Ilene Deatherage, of Russell, KS; and one sister-in-law, Berneta Ziegler, of Lincoln, KS.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Harris, in 1995; and siblings: Sara Arnold, Gerald, James, Dale and Warren Standley.
Cremation was planned. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 in the United Presbyterian Church in Phillipsburg with Pastor Chris Davis officiating.
