Helen Darlene Sammons, daughter of Jacob & Elizabeth (Morris) Francis, was born December 11, 1919 in Logan, KS. She passed away May 21, 2010 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 90.

Helen grew up in Logan where she attended school & graduated from Logan High School in 1937.

On May 28, 1941, Helen was united in marriage to Harley Sammons in Stockton, KS. To this union, three children were born; Larry, Marvin & Jolene.

Helen & Harley lived on the farm south of Logan until the fall of 1984 when they moved to Stockton. Helen was known for being an excellent cook. Everyone working during harvest enjoyed the hot meals she prepared & took to the field.

Helen enjoyed, music, reading & quilting. She made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling. Harley & Helen visited many of the National Parks & Monuments, she especially enjoyed the mountains. The couple also traveled to Greece to visit their daughter.

Family was very important to Helen; she enjoyed being around them & loved babysitting her grandchildren & great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Marvin Lee in 1952, her husband Harley in 2008, three brothers; Raymond, Harley & Harold & five sisters; Sadie, Emma, Alice, Mildred & Dorothy.

Survivors include her son Larry & Wife Vernelle of Phillipsburg; her daughter, Jolene Hill & husband Dave of Great Bend; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren & 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. in the Logan Christian Church in Logan with Pastor Troy Buss Officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:00 Monday at the Logan Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00.
