Life-long Phillips County resident Ida Anna (Dusin) Krafft was born January 9, 1919 to parents August Dusin and Mary Beyerlein Dusin in rural Phillips County. She died April 3, 2012 at the Phillips County Hospital at the age of 93.
She and her husband Fred Krafft were married September 11, 1940 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Stuttgart, Kansas. Ida was absolutely devoted to him every day of her life. They traveled a great deal during their marriage, visiting vacation spots in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, and many other states. Fred preceded her in death in November, 2000. They were blessed to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary only 2 months before he died.
Ida was known for her deep faith in God, and a spirituality she witnessed to everyone she knew, by the way she lived her life.
Those family and friends who knew her best could tell you of her great love of gardening. She was famous for the flowers she nurtured and grew. Also a bird lover, her favorites were the cardinals. She would watch for their bright plumage to appear and grace her garden, both on the farm where the majority of their marriage was spent, and after they moved to a house in town. You could spot them in her home, as well, in figurines, on cards, and on calendars which she loved to make and decorate with beading and sequins. She also produced a great many beautiful crocheted doilies, potholders and afghans.
Ida and her husband were dear friends to many as well as wonderful neighbors. Family and friends alike always knew they would be treated to a taste of her wonderful cooking any time they dropped by her home to visit.
The last few years of her life were lived at Phillips County Retirement Center where she had many friends. Even though plagued by the pain of chronic osteo-arthritis, she never complained, and all who were blessed to know her often commented on her sweet nature.
Ida is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Funeral services will be held Sat. April 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, with Pastor Shelly Klingensmith officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Thurs and 9:00 to 9:00 Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the church or the Phillips County Retirement Center.
