Ilene F. Coomes-Lebeda, 73, Phillipsburg passed away March 25, 2013 in Alma, Nebraska.
She was born the oldest of four children to Merle and Elsie Doak Shearer on December 1, 1939 in Norton county. Ilene graduated high school from Almena rural high school with the class of 1958. She was united in marriage to Lyman Orlin Coomes of Agra, Kansas on September 4, 1960 at the First Christian Church in Phillipsburg, Kansas. To this union five sons: Rick, Jeff, Steve, Rod, Kevin and two daughters Sharon and Shayla were born.
Ilene and Lyman owned and operated several businesses including used car sales, gas station, motel and restaurant and their truck company, Coomes Trucking that was started in 1964.
Succeeding Lyman's death in September 1988 Ilene was united in marriage to Donald Lebeda of Apple Valley, California on December 31, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ilene and Don made their home in Apple Valley, California working together in his trucking company until they retired in Phillipsburg, Ks. Ilene continued working with her sons at Coomes trucking until her illness.
She is survived by her husband, Don of the home, her sons, Rick and wife Kandi, Kensington, Jeff, Phillipsburg, Steve and wife Shari of Mobile, Alabama, Kevin and wife Sharris, Phillipsburg, daughter, Sharon Spresser, Phillipsburg, brother Ron Shearer, Almena, sister Wanda and husband LaMoyne Jackson, Hill City, Don's children, Philip, Thorton, Colorado, Whitney Altenbern, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 32 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ilene is preceded in death by her parents, Merle and
Elsie Shearer, her late husband, Lyman, son Rodney, daughter
Shayla and grandchildren Lindsay and Lucas Matal and Kelsey Altenbern.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. Burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery, Phillips County, KS.
Ilene will lie in state from Noon until 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral chapel, with the family receiving friends Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
