On Friday, February 18th, 2011, Inez F. Luthi left this world at the age of 101 years and eight months as peacefully as she entered after a beautiful life of motherhood, service and profound friendship to every person with whom she came in contact. Her joy in life was her family and intimate friends. Her most treasured times were spent surrounded by all of them in her home enjoying her fabulous cooking and baking.
Inez was born in Lyon County, Kansas on June 2, 1909. She married Harmon O. Luthi on December 10, 1927 in Eureka, Kansas. They had two sons, Jack and his wife Wanda of Kingman, Kansas and Darrell and his wife Christine of Houston, Texas. She had four grandchildren, Rick and his wife Brenda of Palmer, Alaska, Rhonda Zerger and her husband Mark of Kingman, Kansas, Dena Pierce of San Antonio, Texas, Cara Rowland and her husband Brian of Lake Charles, Louisiana, seven great grandchildren, Jake Luthi and wife Julia, and Matt Luthi of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Katie Gardner and husband John of Palmer, Alaska, Sage, Cheyenne and Brooke Pierce of San Antonio, Texas and Brylee Rowland of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and two great-great grandchildren, Evie and Charlie Gardner of Palmer, Alaska.
She was a longtime member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women in Logan, Kansas. Inez was an active member in each organization she joined, having served as president of the Business Professional Women's Club and the UMW. She was a member of Eastern Star and held numerous offices in Logan's Alpha Chapter #248 as well as the Kansas State position as Ruth. She was a life member of the Dane G. Hanson Museum.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents Peter & Effie Beer, husband Harmon and brother, Oddie. Inez was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend, who will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Her special smile, love and kindness truly touched many hearts. We will truly miss her.
A graveside service will be held this Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, KS with Pastor Dean Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will follow.
