Logan resident, Irving LeRoy Smith, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at his home at the age of 80.

Irving served in the U.S. Navy, upon his return he worked as a hired hand in the Densmore area.

He was united in marriage to Mary E. Scott on January 2, 1959 at Logan, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; 2 daughters, Debbie New & Husband Tom of Lansing, KS and Gwen Largent & husband Kevin of Almena, KS; a son, Tim Smith & wife, Andrea of Scranton, KS; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Wyatt of Norton, KS.

Irving was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Alexine M. Orr-Paden and 2 grandchildren, Jason Largent and Matthew New.

Graveside services with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.

He will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Logan Funeral Home, 102 E. Church Street, Logan, KS 67646.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Irving L. Smith Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
