December 10, 1935 – December 3, 2025
Isabell Burton Krouse peacefully returned to her Heavenly Home and the arms of Jesus Christ on December 3, 2025 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, KS, a week before her 90th birthday.
She was born in Afton, WY, December 10, 1935 the daughter of Stewart and Cora Leona (Swainston) Burton. She grew up milking cows on a dairy farm with 5 siblings, learned to play the piano and violin, and graduated from Star Valley High School then the University of Wyoming after marrying D Paul Jones in 1957. After teaching school in Wyoming, and having 5 sons and 1 daughter, they divorced. Isabell then moved her family to Logan, KS where she taught Special Education and severely handicapped children for many years. She married Noel Krouse in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on February 4, 1975, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2025. For many years she cleaned the Dane G. Hansen Memorial Plaza, the LDS Phillipsburg Ward Building, and homes in the Logan area. Isabell and Noel enjoyed gardening together, and Isabell grew gorgeous flowers in her yard.
Isabell and Noel were members of the Phillipsburg Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where Isabell has served in many music, teaching, and leadership capacities as well as supporting Noel in his leadership, teaching, clerical, and other responsibilities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Lillian Mortensen; and brothers Heber and James Burton.
Isabell is survived by her husband Noel; seven children: John Jones of Otto, WY, Laura Lechner of Freedom, ID, Dale Jones of Powell, WY, Terry Jones of Manden, ND, Royden Jones of Otto, WY, Carlton Jones of Highland, UT, and Larry Krouse of Smith Center, KS; 34 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; brothers Alma Burton of Logan, UT and Joe Burton of Afton, WY; and a sisters Ruth Scholes of Provo, UT and Ellen Peterson of Burley, ID.
As a family we want to thank all those who helped and cared for out mother and grandmother during her declining years, especially her loving husband, Noel Krouse who cared for her the most. The help she received from her friends in the Phillipsburg Ward and doctors, nurses, therapist, and hospice have all been greatly appreciated. Bless each of you for all you have done for a great Daughter of God whom we all love dearly.
Funeral services will be held under the direction of Bishop Josh Choate at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025 in the Phillipsburg Ward Chapel. The services will be live streamed on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. The dedication of Isabell's grave and burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, KS.
Mrs. Krouse will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday, then 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 2nd St., Phillipsburg. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel for visitation.
