Obituary

John Paul "Jack" Siglinger, Jr., passed away Monday, July 11, 2022 in the Phillips County Retirement Center at the age of 93,

Jack was born on April 5, 1929 in Phillipsburg the son of John Paul, Sr., and Ethel I. (Nay) Siglinger.  He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Phillipsburg for 47 years.  He started with the phone company when he was in high school in 1947 and took pride in his work.

He met Mildred "Mickey" Jackson while working for the telephone company in Atwood, KS where she was working as an operator.  Mickey was the love of his life.  They were united in marriage on October 7, 1950 in Great Bend, Kansas, and made their home in Atwood, KS while Jack was in the US Army for military service.  In 1955 they moved their home Phillipsburg.  She preceded him in death on December 5, 2016 and were married for 67 years

Jack loved Phillipsburg.  He took an active role in the community as was a member of the First Christian Church, Lions Club, a Mason, and the American Legion (life member.)  Jack was also a lifelong member to the Telephone Pioneers and loved to volunteer for the Phillips County 4H.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Jack will always be known for his friendliness, jocularity, love of church, love of family, and love of community.  He was a devoted husband and role model to his children.  He gave them opportunity, encouragement, love, and support.  He often would visit friends in hospitals and nursing homes.

Jack was also preceded in death by his parents; a son Marlin Ray Siglinger; a brother Donald Wayne; a sister Menta Margaret Bickle; and granddaughter Stacy Siglinger.

Survivors include sons Stanley J. Siglinger and wife Bonita of WaKeeney and Paul Reid Siglinger of Phillipsburg, daughter-in-law Karen Siglinger of Overland Park, KS. Also 5 grandchildren; Jason Siglinger of Hays, KS, Jon Siglinger of Kansas City, KS, Kim Munk of Oakley, KS, Johann Buck of Chandler, AZ, and Morgan Lang of Wakeeney, KS. And 8 great grandchildren; Maleigha Siglinger-Albers, Delana, & Brexton Munk; Sebastian & Olivia Buck; and Trevyne Brown, Tegan & Tavian Lang.  Also: 1 great greatgrandchild; Atticus James Beckman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating.  The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Mr. Siglinger will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday evening for visitation.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg.
