Phillipsburg resident, Jacob Bartel "Bart" Soodsma, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at his home in Phillipsburg at the age of 85. He was born December 16, 1924 in Prairie View, KS to Bert & Dina (Pakkebier) Soodsma. He worked as a farm & auto mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Erma, of the home in Phillipsburg; daughters Sharon Lee Poe and Jennifer Lynne Berrera, both of Lamar, CO; stepson, Bill Harbers of Billings, MT; stepdaughters Dora Hoover and Lucy Snyder, both of Great Bend, KS; a brother, Rufus Soodsma of Phillipsburg; a sister, Angeline Garner of Parker, CO; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Prairie View Reformed Church, Prairie View, KS with Ref. Jeff Van Der Weele officiating. Burial followed in the Luctor Cemetery, Phillips County.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Prairie View Reformed Church.
