CAWKER CITY - James Vernon "Jim" Jansonius, 82, Cawker City, died May 4, 2010, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Olliff-Boeve chapel. Burial followed in Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, Kan.
Mr. Jansonius was born on November 8, 1927, to John and Mary Jansonius of Prairie View. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Farmland Trucking of Phillipsburg after 30 years of service. He was a lifelong horseman.
Survivors include one son, Brad (Emma) Jansonius of Meade, Kan.; three daughters, Sherida (Joe) Warner of Grand Junction, Colo., Laurie (Don) Hall of Kingman, Kan., and Sherisa (Kalvin) Wood of Phillipsburg, Kan.; one brother, Gerrit Jansonius of Phillipsburg, and two sisters, Annette Hein of Troy, Mich., and Elsie Allen of Centennial, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and his loving friend and companion, Pat Jansonius of Downs, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill Jansonius and Bob Jansonius; one sister, Ann Morgan; and one grandson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
