Janice K. (Jan) Gutzman passed away from natural causes on Saturday, June 28, 2025.  Pratt, Kansas had been her home for the last four years of her life.

Janice Katherine Standish was born March 29, 1934, in Almena, Kansas to Fred and Hazel (Taylor) Standish. She attended Almena schools graduating in 1952.

On June 8, 1952, she married Wesley Eugene (Gene) Gutzman. They made their home and raised their two children Linda and Ricci on the farm northeast of Almena until moving to town in 2004.

She also did the bookkeeping, made delicious hot meals three times a day, had a large garden and cared for her home and children. Everyone who stopped by was welcomed with a cup of hot coffee and a place at her table. Jan canned her garden surplus. Many family and friends will miss her pickles, tomatoes, and plum butter.

Jan loved being active. Jan taught herself to sew and loved blessing others with that skill.  She made her own and Linda's clothes. She also tailored business suits for sisters and even made the peewee baseball uniforms for Ricci and the team. She played softball, was an excellent bowler and golfer. To golf year around Jan and Gene became "snowbirds" in 1985. They made lifelong friends in Pahrump, Nevada.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Marge Roe, Doris Goltz, Carol Gilkerson, brother Miles Standish, and grandson Cole Gutzman. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Dean) Hockenberry and son Ricci (Diana) Gutzman, her 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation was planned.  Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 2nd, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Almena with Pastor Ted Stapleton officiating.
