Joan Ream, daughter of Versailes & Pearl (Shook) Olliff, passed away on June 14, 2022 at the Sun Porch in Smith Center, KS at the age of 93.  She was born March 4, 1929 in Lebanon, KS, the second child of Versailes & Pearl (Shook) Olliff.

Margaret Joan, grew up in the Lebanon, KS area.  She attended the Grandview Grade School and the Lebanon High School, graduating in 1947.

She was united in marriage to Staff Sgt. Duane Ream on June 24, 1947.  They spent the next six months in Atlanta, GA, where Duane was stationed, & on his discharge, they returned to Lebanon to make their home.

Joan was employed as a secretary at the Lebanon High School and two years later took employment with Beardslee Insurance Agency.  In 1957, she began her career with the First National Bank of Lebanon & after the purchase of the bank, by Smith County State Bank.  She continued her employment until she retired in 1991, after 34 years of service.

In 1959, Duane & Joan were blessed with an adopted daughter, Kristi Michelle, who was the Joy of their life.

Joan's parents brought her up attending the Lebanon Christian Church, where she was baptized & remains a member.  The Lord was a very important part of Joan's & Duane's marriage.  They were blessed with 75 years together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Doreen Stones, her granddaughter Alicia Unruh & her husband Duane on June 10, 2022.

Survivors include her daughter, Kristi Powell; her grandson, Travis Unruh; 4 great grandsons, Caleb, Carson, Carter & Cameron Unruh & her brother Norman Olliff.

A graveside service will be held Sat. June 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sweet Home Cemetery, Smith County, with Lance McDowell officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00
