John Harry Sanders, son of Robert Lyle & Jaclynn Cae (Haak) Sanders, was born Mary 8, 1953 in Dodge City, KS and passed away July 7, 2019 at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, KS at the age of 66.

He spent his early childhood years traveling with his parents, his father working as a mechanic on a road crew paving roads throughout Kansas and Colorado.  The family moved to Nebraska, eventually settling in Ohiowa, NE where John attended school.  He enjoyed playing basketball and singing in the choir.  After school he helped his father in his mechanic's shop, working on vehicles and pumping gas, and also helped his mother around the house and in the garden.

After graduation John attended auctioneering school and earned his auctioneer's license.  He went to work for the railroad, which took him to Edgar, NE where he began working as a plumber & electrician.  After that he became a police officer and moved to Harvard, NE.  While in Harvard he owned & operated his own shop, John's Tire & Lube. Using his mechanical talents he started welding in the Hastings, NE area and eventually ended up at Peterson Mechanical in Norton, KS.  Then in March, 1999, John took a maintenance position at the Norton Correctional facility where he worked until his retirement in 2015.

On March 24, 2006, he was united in marriage to Brenda Claycamp in Wendover, Nevada.  In January, 2013, John & Brenda bought the Town & Country Kitchen in Norton.

John's hobbies included motocross racing, riding street motorcycles, hunting, fishing camping and most of all, playing slot machines at the casinos.  He cherished all the time he could spend with his wife, Brenda.

His mother, Jaclynn, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda, of Norton; his father, Robert, of Geneva, NE; his sons:  Mark of Edgar, NE, Brent of Harvard, NE and John of Norton, KS; his daughter, Becky Sanders of Harvard, NE; his stepsons:  Billy, Bobby, & B.J. Tallent, all of Norton; Jesse Johnson of Gothenburg, NE and Herbie Johnson of Norton; one brother, Rob Sanders & wife, Penny, of Hastings, NE; two sisters: Debbie Carbonneau of Chester, NE and Cheryl Price of Lincoln, NE; 24 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Norton Christian Church, Norton, with Pastor Nate Hagen officiating.  Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery, Norton.

Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Memorials may be given to the John H. Sanders Memorial Fund.
