John Paul Schmid, son of Walter & Geraldine (Bradley) Schmid, was born in Phillipsburg, Kansas on September 18, 1955 and passed away October 26, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska at the age of 59.
John graduated from Eastern Heights High School in Agra, Kansas with the class of 1973.
He married Debra Bailey in 1976. To this union two sons were born, Travis and Kevin. John and Debra later divorced.
John lived and farmed in Phillips County until 1997 when he moved to the Kansas City area for a while. He then relocated in Alma, Nebraska where he resided until his death.
He enjoyed going to auctions and accumulated a large assortment of tools and memorabilia over the years.
John was preceded in death by his father, Walter Schmid; his infant son, John Paul Schmid, Jr.; his sister, Linda Schmid; and his brother-in-law, Leonard Fink.
Survivors include his sons, Travis of Olathe, KS and Kevin & wife, Julianna, of Olpe, KS; two grandchildren, Jaxon and Karlie; his mother, Geraldine Schmid, of Alma, NE; sister, Wanda Fink of Kensington, KS; brother, James & wife, Colette, of Thornton, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Dan Beilfuss officiating.
Friends may sign the book on Thursday & Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
