Obituary

John Zachary Voss, son of Louis Dean and Glenna Gail (Hutchinson) Voss, was born May 12, 1975, in Norton, Kansas and passed away February 13, 2015 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 39.

He graduated from Logan High School with the Class of 1993.

On August 16, 2003 he was united in marriage to Kayla June Ebner in Logan, Kansas. This union was blessed with five daughters – Justice, Ireland, Harlee, Jersey and Lylah.

John was a cowboy through and through and loved working with horses and cattle. He was employed at Plainville Livestock and day-worked for local farmers and ranchers. He was in the process of developing a horse breeding program and was passionate about tracing the bloodlines of past and present horses.

In his spare time he loved roping, riding and participating in ranch rodeos. He also served as a volunteer fireman with the Logan Fire Department.

John didn't know a stranger and was friendly to everyone he met. He was known for his contagious smile and laughter and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gene Hutchinson.

Survivors include his five daughters and their mother, Kayla Voss, of Logan, KS; Baby Voss and mother, Elsie Ashmore, of Logan; his brother, Riley Voss & wife, Billie, of Stockton, KS; his sister, Jesse Ware & husband, Cody, of Logan; his father, Louis Voss & wife, Rainell, of Logan; his mother, Glenna Wright & husband, Jerry, of Hartley, TX; and his grandmothers, Eula Hutchinson and Berneda Voss, both of Logan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Huck Boyd Community Center in Phillipsburg. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, KS.

John will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Logan Funeral Home for visitation.
