Speed, Kansas resident, Johnita Chestnut, passed away Thurs., April 14, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS at the age of 63. She was born in Logan, KS on January 7, 1948 to Lonnie & Beryl (Snyder) Smith. She was a homemaker and mother.
Survivors include her husband, Alan, of Speed; son, Clint Chestnut, of Blanchard, OK; daughter, Jennie Smith of Omaha, NE; six brothers: Leroy Smith of Speed; Carl and Stanley Smith, both of Logan; Johnny Smith of Phillipsburg; Bob Smith of Norton; and Rex Smith of Longview, WA; two sisters, Lucille Smith of Randall, WA and Kay Ferrer of Wichita, KS; and one granddaughter, Rachal Chestnut of Oklahoma City, OK.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade, KS, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating.
Mrs. Chestnut will lie in-state Sat. & Sun. from noon – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be given to Her Granddaughter's Education Fund.
