Johnnie Moss left this world May 7,2010 three days after his 79th birthday at the Hospital in Kingfisher, OK. Johnnie was born on May 4th 1931 to Orpha Jane
(Mountford) & James William Moss on the family farm west of Hoxie, Ks. Johnnie grew up working with his father on the farm until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict, he was Honorably Discharged in Aug.
1954. After his father died he moved to Colorado and worked in the Mines.
Johnnie loved western shows and was an avid fan of John Wayne and was an extra in the film True Grit. He also loved to fish and camp.
On Feb. 25, 1991 Johnnie Married the love of his life Kenita McLaughlin Pacula in Colby, Ks. Johnnie and Kenita owned the Kirwin bait shop in the 90's
and Johnnie would always tell the out of Towner's where the fish were biting. After retiring they liked to travel. For years the family never knew for sure
what state they were in, but during the winter months they were usually found in Arizona where it was warm. Within the last five years Johnnie and Kenita became interested in miniature horses. They spent many hours and dollars getting some of
the finest ponies around. He would put his grandkids on a pony and lead them around for hours. The grandkids were always ready for a trip to Oklahoma to see
Grandpa and his ponies.
Johnnie never knew a stranger and always had a smile and a joke for
everyone.
Johnnie was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 0363.
Johnnie is survived by his wife Kenita of the home. Daughters: Jennifer (Glen) Richmeier Woodland Park, Colo.; Marie Fitzmaurice Crestwood, Kentucky;
Kathy Bashford & Greg Frankum Hampton, Georgia; Carla (Gary) Cochran Agra, Ks.; Jonilyn Campbell & Don Boden Beloit, Ks.; Son: James (Jolene) Moss Smith
Center, Ks. Stepdaughters: Yvonne (Bobbie) Fulton Glade, Ks.; Kristie (Kenny) Coulter Hennessey, OK. Stepsons: Raymond (Diane) Pacula Hunter, OK.; Keith Pacula Sallisaw, OK.; 1 Brother: Earl (Opal) Moss Seldon KS. 2 Sisters: Margaret (Lawrence) Muehlenkamp Oakley, KS. And Ester (Don) Woofter Colby, KS. 33
grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, cousin Tommy Moss and a
grandson.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. Burial followed in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade, KS with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be given to the KSU Center for Basic Cancer Research.
