Obituary

Johnnie Tuxhorn was born August 8, 1925 in Athol, Kansas to parents, John and Sophia (Frieling) Tuxhorn. He passed away peacefully at the Hutchinson Promise Hospital in Hutchinson, Kansas on December 2, 2011 at the age of 86.

Johnnie married the love of his life, Naomi Bugbee, on October 7, 1951 at the Christian Church in Smith Center, Kansas. The Lord blessed this union with the birth of two daughters, Charlene and Marcia.

Johnnie was a long-time employee of the City of Phillipsburg. He also spent many years purchasing and remodeling rental houses in this area. His caring nature and sense of humor endeared him to everyone he knew and to those he'd just met.

He was a true man of God and a great example of Christ's love. He enjoyed visiting with people and sharing his faith. His favorite saying was: "If we meet and you forget me, you have lost nothing: but if you meet Jesus Christ and forget him, you have lost everything."

Johnnie cherished his wife and family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. Naomi & Johnnie celebrated 60 years of marriage, friendship and spiritual companionship in October of this year. "He will be deeply missed, but we know he's in Heaven smiling down on all of us."

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Sophia; three sisters: Velma Day, Alma Jensen and Selma Crown; and two brothers, Albert and Edward Tuxhorn.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi, of the home in McPherson, KS; his daughters, Charlene (Sonny) Clark of Laurel, MT and Marcia (Mick) Strutt of McPherson; six grandchildren: Justin, Jared, Chad and Kristin Clark and Ryan and Shawn Strutt; two great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Clark and Noah Strutt; and his brother, Ivan Tuxhorn of Loveland, CO.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Dan Klinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to Teens For Christ.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
