Joimae (Lee) Grismore was born August 18, 1935 to Lorraine (Scott) and Jesse Lee and
passed away at the age of 77 on Saturday June 22, 2013 at the Deseret Health and Rehab
Facility in Kensington, KS.
Joimae attended grade school at Kirwin, KS and was Valedictorian of her graduating
class. She later obtained her High School Diploma through a correspondence program.
She met Frankie Edward Grismore while working at the local cafe and they later married
September 25, 1953 in Kensington, KS at the minister's home. 6 children were born to
this union. The early years of their marriage were spent traveling due to Frankie's
construction jobs. They eventually settled in Powersville, MO. This is where the family
lived when Frankie passed away in 1966 and where Joimae raised their 6 children.
In 1980 she moved back to the family farm in Kirwin and later moved into town in 1990.
She lived there until becoming ill in March of this year and entered the Nursing Home in
April.
Joimae worked selling Watkins and Raleigh while her kids were at school. She was
always very active in the PTA and was a Room Mother every year for one of her 6 kids
throughout their Elementary years. After her kids were all raised she obtained her
Certified Nurse Aide Certificate in 1982 and worked at several different Nursing Homes
until retiring in 1998.
She spent her retirement years enjoying garage sales, auctions, raising a big garden,
visiting with her friends Bill and Janice, spoiling her grandkids and great-grandkids. She
enjoyed cooking for her family. She had many special recipes and everyone had their
favorite.
Her family was her greatest joy and she spent many hours talking on the phone keeping
up to date on all their lives.
