Jon Rae Ahlberg, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Born on July 29, 1942, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jon Rae led a life marked by dedication and hard work across several professions throughout her lifetime.
Jon Rae began her professional journey working as a bartender in Denver, Colorado, where she honed her interpersonal skills and developed a reputation for her welcoming presence. She later advanced to become a shoe store manager, demonstrating her aptitude for leadership and commitment to customer service. Her longest and most notable career was as a truck driver, where over the course of 33 years she amassed an impressive 2.5 million miles driven without a single accident—a testament to her skill, vigilance, and professionalism on the road.
Throughout her life, Jon Rae was known not only for her work ethic but also for her steadfast character and loyalty to her family. She is survived by her husband, Robert James Ahlberg II of Phillipsburg, Kansas, who stood by her side during her final years. Jon is also survived by her son, Zane V. Kurtz of Sterling, Colorado, and a daughter, Linda Feil of Idaho, all of whom were integral parts of her support system.
Jon Rae was preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Mona (Weeks) Helm. She also mourned the loss of her daughter, Sidney Eileen Weaver, as well as her brothers, Jim Helm and Terry Helm, who all preceded her in death.
Jon Rae Ahlberg’s life was a narrative of perseverance and achievement, set against the backdrop of an evolving American landscape. Her legacy is etched not only in the miles she safely traveled but also in the hearts of those who knew her. Her memory will endure among her surviving family and friends, who remember her as a woman of remarkable strength and unwavering dedication.
Cremation was planned. No services are scheduled at this time.
