Obituary
Karen Jean (Covey) Bach, age 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Woodruff, Kansas on Monday, August 19th, 2013. Karen was a devout Christian and was ready to go to her Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Karen was born on May 30th, 1943 in Oxford, Nebraska. She was the first of two girls born to Eugene "Gene" and Eileen Covey. Karen graduated from Stamford High School in 1960. On May 4th, 1963 Karen married Leland Bach at the Methodist Church in Oxford.
Leland and Karen lived in Stuttgart for the first four years of their marriage before moving to their current home in Woodruff in 1967. To this union, four boys were born, Mark, who passed away in infancy, Anthony, Stuart, and Jason. One of Karen's happiest moments was celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary this past May with all of her friends and family.
Karen worked for many years as a nurse's aide in Alma, Nebraska at the Harlan County Hospital. In 1989 a brain tumor forced Karen to stop working as a nurse's aide and become a full time homemaker. Karen loved to cook and her specialty was baking chocolate chip cookies and all kinds of pies. Leland and Karen were avid campers and took the boys thousands of miles on numerous camping trips in the summers.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Mark. She is survived by her husband, Leland; sons, Anthony (Monica) of Woodruff, and their four boys: Caleb, Calen, Colten, and Caden; Stuart of Meriden, Kansas and his children: Heather (Matt) Williams and their son, Jack; Andrew (Shelby) and their daughter, Elaina; Katie; and Hennessey (Devin) Lans and their son, Cooper; and Jason (Terri) of Alma, Nebraska and their children: Tessa, Ean and Ethan; and her sister, Connie (Ron) Miller of Kansas City, Missouri.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church, Alma, NE, with Pastor Paul Ferrarone officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Stuttgart, KS.
There will be no visitation; cremation was chosen. Friends may sign the book at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, on Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Peace Lutheran Church.
