Logan resident, Karen Hilburn, passed away on March 14, 2025, at the Logan Manor, in Logan, Kansas, at the age of 84.

Karen Kay Hilburn was born on September 1, 1940, in Osborne, Kansas, to her parents Verlin and Eileen (Cordell) Bliss. Karen and her family lived in Iowa City, Iowa for a short time, before moving to Hill City, KS with her parents where she attended school.

She was united in marriage to Keith Hilburn on August 3, 1956, in Hill City, Kansas.  The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage.  She continued to celebrate that day last year.

Keith and Karen lived a short time with her parents before moving to Oklahoma, where Keith washed cattle and showed them.   They came back to Kansas because they missed their families.  Karen worked at the grocery store in Hill City.  During the summer of 1966 they moved into Logan, Karen worked at the grocery store in Logan for20 years, then to Phillipsburg at Ben Franklins for 3 years, then back to Logan working for the Nursing Home for 5 years before her last job before retirement at the hardware store in Logan.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for 40 years.

Karen is preceded in death by her husband Keith Hilburn, parents Verlin and Eileen Bliss, son Shane Hilburn, and brother Bob Bliss.

Survivors include her sons Kevin Hilburn and wife LaDonna of Long Island, Kansas, Scott Hilburn and wife Sandy of Halstead, Kansas, and Jace Hilburn of Almena, Kansas, brother Steve Bliss and wife Diane of Logan, Kansas, as well as 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren for a grand total of 72 grand; even though she would tell you it numbered in the hundreds.

A funeral service for Karen Hilburn will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at the Logan Christian Church, in Logan, Kansas, with Pastor Troy Buss officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery, in Logan, Kansas.

Mrs. Hilburn will lie in state on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Logan Funeral Home, in Logan, Kansas. The family will receive friends and relatives for a visitation Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home.
