Katherine A. Owens, daughter of Roy & Cora Hiekes, Was born April 27, 1916 in Wetmore, KS. She passed away Jan. 11, 2014 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg at the age of 97.

Katherine graduated from high school in 1933 and moved to Speed, KS to work for her cousin, Dr. Harold Chapman. There she met Harry Owens and they were united in marriage on Dec. 24, 1935. To this union, two sons were born, Bruce and Keith. The family moved to Phillipsburg, KS in the fall of 1948.

Harry passed away on Dec. 9th, 1980.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce and wife Linda of McPherson, KS and Keith of Phillipsburg; her granddaughter, Erica Hansen and husband Kevin of Kingman, KS; her grandson, Jason Christiansen and wife Kelli of Haysville, KS and three great grandchildren; Garic Hansen, Tayton and Jaylea Christiansen of Haysville, KS.

Funeral services will be held Tues. Jan. 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Becky Davison officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Phillipsburg Library or the Glade United Methodist Church.
