Kathleen (Kathye) Jane (Irsik) Wayman, 66, passed away Wednesday 25, 2015 at 1:38 AM in Augusta, GA, at the Georgia Regents University Hospital. She died peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 18, 1948 in Garden City, Kansas. She graduated Holcomb High School in 1966. She received her Associate Degree at Garden City Junior College in 1968. She worked in law enforcement at the Garden City police department as a dispatcher, then at the Finney County Sherriff's officer as a deputy clerk. She worked at the Washburn University law enforcement office in Topeka, Kansas for a total of 25 years. She completed her Bachelor's of Social Work in 2009 at Washburn University. Kathye also worked as a teaching assistant at the Norton Correctional Facility in Norton, Kansas in 2000 - 2003.
Kathye was born to Claude and Mildred (Stebens) Irsik, who have passed away. She was the youngest of three children. Trudy Strong, her sister lives in Garden City, Kansas. Tom Irsik, her brother passed away September 19, 2003. Kathye is survived by her husband, Donald Wayman, of Augusta, GA. Kathye has three children; David Huckins of Leavenworth, KS, Terrie Zimmerman of Augusta, Georgia, and Daniel Wayman of Topeka, KS. She has 4 grandsons; Tanis Lynch, Aslan Zimmerman, Logan Wayman, and Raislyn Zimmerman. She, also, has 8 nephews, 8 nieces, numerous great nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2 pm at the First Christian Church in Phillipsburg, Kansas where she is a member. Burial will follow in the Prairie View Cemetery, Prairie View, KS.
Kathye will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with a family visitation from 6 pm. to 8 pm.
