Kathleen Joan Rockey, daughter of Don & Bernice (Rucinski) Weaver, was born December 14, 1942 in Jasper County, Missouri near Joplin. She passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 68.
On December 1, 1961 she was united in marriage to William "Willie" Rockey at the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Belleville, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children: John, Lorie, Patty and Robert. Their family lived in Scandia, Belleville, and several other towns in Kansas before moving to Logan.
Besides being a wife and mother, Kathy worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide. In her spare time, she loved to draw, read, crochet and paint.
Her parents and husband, Willie, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children: John Rockey & wife, Janet, of Naponee, NE; Lorie Campbell & husband, Max, Jr. of Phillipsburg, KS; Patty Horner & husband, Tony, of Glade, KS; and Robert Rockey of Logan, KS; as well as eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Logan Funeral Home, Logan, with Father Daryl Olmstead officiating. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the River View Cemetery in Scandia, KS.
Mrs. Rockey will lie in-state Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. –
9 p.m. at the funeral home in Logan.
