Obituary

Logan resident Keith Edward Hilburn passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Phillipsburg County Hospital, Phillipsburg.  He was 86.

He was born on November 5, 1937 the 10th child of Willard and Lula (Bunch) Hilburn in rural Sheridan County, Kansas.  He attended grade school in Tasco, KS and graduated from the Hoxie High School.

He worked at the sale barn in Hill City, before meeting the love of his life Karen Bliss.  They married on August 4, 1956, celebrating 67 years of marriage before his death.  To this union four sons were born:  Shane, Kevin, Scott, and Jace.

Keith and Karen lived a short time with her parents before moving to Oklahoma where Keith washed cattle and showed them.   They came back to Kansas because they missed their families.  He worked for the Albert Pratt family in Hill City.  The family relocated to the Bow Creek area, but continued farming for the Pratt family.  During the summer of 1966 they moved into Logan and went to work for Van-Pack Farms.  When Van-Pack split-up, he continued working the Van Loenen family until his retirement in 2012.  Keith and Karen moved into the Logan Manor in the fall of 2023.

Survivors include his wife Karen of Logan; 3 sons Kevin and wife LaDonna of Long Island, KS, Scott and wife Sandy of Halstead, KS; and Jace of Almena, KS; 20 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren with three more on the way; brother Clarence Hilburn of Kansas City, MO; and sister Grace Harman of Tescott, KS.

Keith was preceded in death by a son Shane; parents Willard and Lula; siblings:  Wilford, Clyde, Oliver, Jim, Margaret Wilson, Katherine "Kate" Van Meter, Hazel Englesman, Charolette Snyder, Gladys Washburn, a stillborn brother, Dean, and Merle.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 in the First Christian Church in Logan, KS with Pastor Troy Buss officiating.  The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, KS.
