Obituary

Kenneth Joseph Riemann, 91, lifetime Edmond, KS resident, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Memorial Hospital North, Colorado Springs, CO.

He was born December 9, 1933, on the family farm southeast of Edmond.  He was the fourth of seven children born to Joseph and Margaret (Jurgensmeier) Riemann. He attended and graduated from Edmond Consolidated School with the class of 1951. He served as a mechanic in the Army's 9th Engineer Battalion from 1956 to 1958.

In September 1952, Kenneth met the love of his life, Ruby Jones. They were married May 11, 1961 in Logan, KS. To this union one daughter, Debra Ann, was born.

From a very young age, Kenneth had a passion and love for farming. He worked on the family farm and hired out as a farmhand to family and neighbors until he took over the family farm in 1958. He expanded the farm over the years until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the local American Legion and St. John's Catholic Church. He enjoyed college basketball, NFL football, playing pitch, reading Louis L'Amour books, gardening, and his family. In later years, he could be found riding his Polaris Ranger checking how the crops were growing.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret, wife Ruby of 60 years, an infant brother Eugene, brother Maurice, and sister Betty.

Survivors include daughter Debra and husband Stephen Maikell of Falcon, CO; three grandchildren: Captain Megan Maikell of Northern VA, Marissa Maikell of Falcon, CO, and Ryan Maikell of London, UK; brothers Ronald Riemann and wife Jean of Beloit, KS, Donald Riemann of Liberty Twp, OH, and sister Phyllis Wetter and husband Lawrence of Salina, KS; sister-in-law Eileen Riemann of Hill City, KS and family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father Trinity Savariyar, will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. John's Catholic Church, in Logan, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Densmore, Kansas, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard and the Norton American Legion.

Mr. Riemann will lie in state on Wednesday, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a recitation of the Rosary on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., at the Logan Funeral Home, in Logan, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
