Larry Joe Dennis, son of Harold Arthur & Iva Mae (Goracke) Dennis, was born February 13, 1941 on a farm in Phillips County, Kansas, and died December 16, 2015 at Phillips County Health Systems in Phillipsburg, Kansas at the age of 74.
He attended the Gooder Rural School thru the 8th grade and graduated from Agra High School in 1959.
On June 23, 1963, he was united in marriage to Peggy Lynn Skeels at the Pleasant Green Assembly of God Church north of Agra, Kansas. The couple was blessed with three sons - Jeff, Jason and Jeremy.
Larry lived the life he loved – his God, his family, and farming & ranching. He milked cows his whole life and was born, raised and lived on the same farm his whole life.
He was a faithful member of the Pleasant Green Assembly of God Church and later became a member of the Heartland Worship Center. He served as a board member for the Eastern Heights School system, Pro Ag Marketing Association, Pleasant Green Assembly of God Church, and Sumner Township.
In his spare time he enjoyed coyote hunting with his greyhounds and was an avid collector of John Deere 2-cylinder tractors.
Larry adored his grandchildren and loved attending their school programs and sporting events. He will be deeply missed by his family, neighbors and friends.
His parents, Harold and Iva Mae, and grandson, Ryan Stauffer preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of the home in rural Kensington; his sons: Jeff & wife, Kim, Jason & wife, Tina, and Jeremy & wife, Audra, all of Kensington; two sisters, Sharon Rust (David) of Kensington and Carol Lare (Bryan) of Edgerton, KS; along with his seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 21, at 2:00 p.m. in the Heartland Worship Center, Agra, KS, with Pastor Jonathan Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Stone Cemetery, Smith County, KS.
Mr. Dennis will lie in-state on Saturday & Sunday from noon – 9 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with the family receiving friends Sunday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Stone Cemetery.
