Larry L. Hall passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Smith Center Health and Rehab at the age of 84 after a long battle with Parkinson's.
He was born January 24, 1940, during a snowstorm, north of Agra, Kansas, the son of Roy and Zella (Munyon) Hall. After graduating from Agra, he attended Kansas Wesleyan. He received his masters from St Louis, MO. He taught school and coached several sports for 24 years at Milford, Logan, Oberlin, Phillipsburg, Arapaho NE, and Mankato before taking over the family farm.
He enjoyed attending singles dances for many years, where he met his future wife.
He was united in marriage to Patricia (Mohrman) Phinney on January 23, 1999 in McCook, NE. To this union Larry gained a bonus family of 4 step children and their families.
He was an avid baseball lover, especially the Kansas City Royals and local sporting events. He rarely missed attending church. Larry was proud of his longhorn cattle and enjoyed showing off his farm in his old '79 pickup. Spending days on the farm with the kids and grandkids was always a favorite. The Agra Lake was an important project for Larry, in which he was instrumental in getting it revitalized. He even donated the walking bridge.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Zella Hall, and brother-in-law Bill Bright.
Survivors include his wife Pat, step-children Natalie (Jim) Rickel of Red Feather Lakes, CO, Dave (Deb)Phinney of Grand Island, NE, Jeanette (Doug) Meissinger of Goodland, KS, and Kristie (Chad) Nickel of McCook, NE; sister Donna Bright, Portland OR, surviving grandchildren, Carissa (Kyle)Stritt and their children, Avery, Leah and Kasen, Brandon (Shannon) Howell and daughter Malea, Brett Meissinger, Trisha (Alan) Haag, Sarah Phinney, Rachel (Jackson) Shafer , Nicole Phinney, Baylor and Layton Winters, as well as 3 nieces and several cousins.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in the Smith Center Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Greg Hubbard officiating. The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the West Cedar Cemetery, Phillips County, KS.
Mr. Hall will lie in state from noon until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday evening for visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Agra Lake or the Smith Center Evangelical Free Church.
