Obituary

Laura Ann Allen, daughter of Max and Mae (Varley) Belgrade, was born October 13, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York and passed away October 24, 2013 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 68.

She attended high school in New London, Connecticut and graduated in 1964. She was united in marriage to Gerald Johnson in April, 1967. To this union two daughters were born: Ingrid Dawn on Nov. 16, 1967 and Corinna Lynn on Nov. 22, 1969. Gerald and Laura divorced in 1974.

In October, 1980, Laura was married to Joseph Chorba; they divorced in January, 1990.
On January 22, 1993, Laura and Dennis Allen were married in Phillipsburg, Kansas. With this union a daughter, Monica Christensen, and son, Mark Allen, were added to her family.
Laura worked most of her life primarily in retail sales as a clerk. She retired in 2007.

In her spare time she loved crocheting afghans, quilting, playing computer games, doing circle-a-word puzzles, listening to country music, dancing, and she especially loved to laugh and enjoy good times with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Kelsie Christensen; and great-granddaughters, Laura Enloe and Trinity Bogart.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Allen, of the home; daughters Dawn Bogart & husband, Rick; Corinna Johnson; and Monica Christensen & husband, Matt, all of Phillipsburg; her son, Mark Allen of Phillipsburg; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Steve Belgrade of New London, CT and Cory Belgrade of Hawthorne, NJ; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wed., Oct. 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Church of God, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Tim Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Mrs. Allen will lie in-state on Monday from 5-9 p.m. and Tues. from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Assoc., American Heart Assoc., or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
