Lauren L. Lemon was born in Phillips County, Kansas, near the town of Kirwin to Lee W. & Bertha E. (Bartlett) Lemon on August 27, 1919. He departed this life on October 3, 2010 at the Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 91 years.
Lauren, affectionately called Bill by family and friends for most of his life, attended the Valley country school through the 8th grade.
He was united in marriage to Aerial H. Gingles at the Methodist Parsonage in Phillipsburg, Kansas on December 22, 1940. Two children blessed this union: a daughter, Linda, and a son, Lonnie.
Lauren was engaged in farming all his life. He especially loved horses. He always had a team of horses and a saddle horse. He belonged to the Ft. Bissell Saddle Club. There was a day when coyote hunting was mighty important too. He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Floyd & Mervin, and by his wife, Aerial on August 24, 2008.
Lauren is survived by his daughter, Linda Colburn and husband, George, of Stockton, Kansas; his son, Dr. Lon Lemon and wife, Kathleen, of Gretna, Nebraska; two brother's-in-law , Adrian Gingles of Phillipsburg, Kansas and Armand Gingles and wife, Geneva, of Logan, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Arloa Clark of Corydon, Iowa; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Les Ellis officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Bissell Saddle Club or the Stockton Public Library.
