Laveda Marie Bandt was born February 19, 1938 in Rooks County, Kansas to Lloyd C. and Agnes (Hrabe) Hulse, and she passed away May 16, 2010 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, Kansas at the age of 72.
Laveda was raised on a farm southwest of Stockton. She attended grade school in Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School. She then attended Fort Hays School of Nursing in Hays, Kansas.
In May, 1957, she married Leroy Clair Wyatt in Great Bend, Kansas. They moved to Norton to farm with Clair's brother and father. Laveda and Clair had five children: Brad, Dana, Clint, Gina and Shanon.
Continuing her nursing education, Laveda earned her LPN license in 1974 from Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas. She was a very compassionate and caring nurse. During her career, Laveda worked at the Norton Community Hospital, St. Johns Hospital, Attica District Hospital and the Phillips County Hospital.
In her spare time, Laveda loved to garden – growing flowers, trees and vegetables. She enjoyed reading and playing cards with her grandkids. Cooking for her family and friends also brought her great joy.
On April 16, 1998, Laveda married Layton Bandt in Las Vegas, Nevada. They enjoyed fishing and traveling to Las Vegas together. Layton passed away December 11, 2009.
In addition to her husband, Layton, Laveda was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd & Agnes Hulse; sister, Marjorie Dougherty; brothers, Delaine and Donald Hulse; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Wyatt.
Survivors include her sons, Brad Wyatt of Hays, Kansas and Clint Wyatt of Burlington, Kansas; her daughters: Dana LeFebvre & husband, Kenny, of Kent, Washington; Gina Lennemann & husband, Dan, of Phillipsburg, Kansas; and Shanon Jarvis & husband, Shane, also of Phillipsburg; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010 in the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. A private burial followed in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Rooks County, KS.
