Obituary

Rural Phillips County resident, Lavonne Arlyss Baker, daughter of John and Anna (Miller) Ehm was born February 15, 1930 on a farm north of Gretna in Phillips County, Kansas.  She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the age of 90.

Lavonne attended the Lone Island and Plum Creek country schools and graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1947.  She married Wayne Baker, June 6, 1948 at Calvary Baptist Church in Phillipsburg, Kansas.  They were the parents of five children, Rodney, Sherrill, Roger, Terrilyn and Debra.

Lavonne was a busy farm wife who worked beside her husband.  She enjoyed crafts, quilting, doing cross word puzzles and painting in her spare time.  Lavonne painted and sent many cards of encouragement to friends and family.  She dearly loved being with her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lavonne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She provided loving advice and spiritual guidance to her family.

Lavonne trusted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young girl and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She taught Sunday School for many years.  She will be missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne in 2011, and a son, Rodney in 2001, her brother Loren, and her parents.

She is survived by her children Roger Baker, Terri Baker, and Deb Robinson and husband Gary all of Phillipsburg, and Sherri Baker of Agra; three grandchildren Lacie Gregory and husband Nate of Wellington, KS, Lannie Robinson and wife Laura of Derby, KS and Logan Robinson and wife Caley of McPherson, KS; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister Melba Bentz of Foley, AL; brother Arlen Ehm of Phillipsburg; and sister-in-law of Lois Ehm of Hutchinson, KS.

At Lavonne's request, there will a private family graveside service at the Pleasant View Cemetery near Gretna, KS in Phillips County, KS.

Mrs. Baker will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 1st, 2020 at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church for Baptist Mid-Missions or Pleasant View Cemetery.
