Phillipsburg resident Milton Leroy (Lee) Jennings passed into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas at the age of 91. Lee was born August 20, 1929 in Phillipsburg. On December 10, 1950 he was united in marriage to Patsy Ann Faulkender of Agra, Kansas in Marysville, Kansas. Seven children were born to this union including LeAnn, Sandra, Terri, Randy, Connie, Michael, and Stacey. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; Vernon Oren and Allie Alvena (Blessman) Jennings; his wife Patsy Ann; his daughters LeAnn Mollet and Connie Jo Flores; one son Randy Jennings; one grandson Jeremiah Caleb Seyler; seven brothers and three sisters, his beloved cat Mew, and numerous other family pets. Survivors include daughter Sandra and husband Bob of Bartlesville Oklahoma; daughter Terri and husband Don of Baldwin City, Kansas; one son Michael and wife Sandy Jennings and daughter Stacey Jennings all of Phillipsburg, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, two more on the way, and pet cats Chunky and Scooter.
During his years at the Phillipsburg High School he served as class president, the football team captain, was known for his outstanding boxing abilities, and worked for several area farmers. After graduating, Lee joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. Upon returning home, he joined the Reserves and later became a life-long member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 1954 he acquired the Creamery in Glade, Kansas and began his own business, Jennings Farm Supply and Trenching Service, which was closed upon his retirement.
Some of his greatest joys in life were cooking for his family; eating at buffets; watching some of his favorite channels on TV like boxing, the History channel, documentaries about World War II, westerns, and America's Got Talent; taking great pride in maintaining his home, lawn, and beautiful rose bushes; and spending quality time with family, friends, and family pets. He never knew a stranger and was friendly to everyone he met delighting them with his unique sense of humor. The last five and a half years of his life he struggled with Alzheimer's Disease. His youngest daughter, Stacey, became his faithful, full-time caregiver until the very end and was able to keep him alive and thriving in the home he loved for the last years of his life as was his wish.
Donations in memory of Lee may be made to the Phillipsburg Homestead Nutrition Project for the Elderly.
A private funeral service was held at the family home on Friday, July 2, 2021. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
