Obituary

Lela May (Culbertson) Goldsmith passed away on January 31, 2015 at the Carriage House in Denton, Texas at the age of 86.
She was born May 21, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Everett and Fena (Harden) Culbertson. Her mother died when she was three years old and she was adopted and raised by her Uncle Harry and Aunt Mae Culbertson.
Lela made her confession to Christ at a very young age and loved her Lord throughout her lifetime until her earthly passing.
She married her husband, Robert Marion Goldsmith, at the young age of 18 on her birthday in 1946. Lela & Robert made their home near Collins, Missouri, where they farmed with her husband's family.
In March, 1947 a daughter, Evelyn, was born and in 1948 another daughter, Virginia, was born. The couple moved their family to Kansas in 1949; their twin daughters, Mary and Mynette, were born in 1950.
Lela was a very busy wife and mother. Robert took a job with a road construction crew and worked away from home much of the time. That prompted their decision to purchase a mobile home so the family could travel together. In 1963 they settled in Phillipsburg, Kansas so the girls could finish high school. The location was also close to the construction company that Robert worked for.
In 1965 Lela began working outside the home as a nurse's aide. This became a 25-year career until her retirement in 1990.
Her husband, Robert, and daughter, Mary Solida, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters: Evelyn & husband, Terry Johnson, of Denton, TX, Virginia "Ginger" & husband, Steve Rust, of Kensington, KS, and Mynette & husband, Ed Ulrich, of Branson, MO; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, KS, with Pastor Aaron Rust officiating.
Mrs. Goldsmith will lie in-state on Friday, Feb. 6, from noon – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice.
