Leland Carl
Bach
Mar 14, 1937 — Aug 2, 2026
Woodruff, Kansas
Leland Carl Bach, age 89, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in the Good Samaritan Society in Alma, NE.
Leland was born March 14, 1937, in Stuttgart, KS, the son of Carl and Lorraine (Satter) Bach.
On May 4, 1963, he was united in marriage to Karen Jean Covey. They lived in Stuttgart, KS, where Leland helped at the Stuttgart Elevator. They later moved to Woodruff, KS, where he resided until his passing. Leland and his wife Karen had four children: Mark (who passed at two months old from a heart defect), Anthony, Stuart, and Jason. After a few years, Leland found his lifelong career working for PMI out of Wichita, KS. He pumped and worked on oil wells in Phillips County, KS, and eventually bought out PMI with his son, Jason. Together, they built one of the largest oil companies in the state of Kansas.
Leland was a lifelong Lutheran and a devoted member of his church, where he served on the church council many times and was deeply involved in the life of the congregation.
Leland enjoyed any outdoor activity. Hunting, boating, fishing, golfing- the list goes on. However, he especially loved camping with his family. He cherished spending time with his boys and their families. The memories of their long vacations, camping trips to the lake, and gatherings at the shop will live forever and be treasured by all. Family always came first to Leland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen, on August 19, 2013, and his firstborn son, Mark.
Survivors include his three sons: Anthony Bach and wife Monica Bach of Phillipsburg, KS; Stuart Bach of Meriden, KS, and Jason Bach and wife Terri Bach of Alma, NE; as well as 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, NE, with Pastor Curtis Simonson officiating. Burial will follow at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Stuttgart, KS.
Mr. Bach will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday and again from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
