Leonard Calvin Pfortmiller, 94, of Stuttgart, Kansas, died February 5, 2019, at his home.
He was born January 6, 1925, in Natoma, Kansas to Edward H. and Irene (Hackerott) Pfortmiller. He graduated from Natoma High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rodman during WWII in both the European and the Pacific Theaters.
On May 20, 1951 Leonard married Lorine Dale Brunson at the St. John Lutheran Church in Natoma.
They lived in Natoma, Stockton and Stuttgart, where Leonard worked as a carpenter and construction manager. He was of the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, Arkansas.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Regina Wood; two brothers, Arthur and an infant brother; and three sisters, Agnes, Marie, and Helen.
He is survived by his children: Richard Hite (Renne) of Alma, NE, Timothy Pfortmiller (Diane) of Lowell, AR, Yolonda Moll (Randy) of Gentry, AR, Phillip Pfortmiller and Matthew Pfortmiller, both of Stuttgart, KS; 41 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, Kansas on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. that evening.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 8, at the funeral home in Phillipsburg with Pastor Randy Moll officiating. A graveside service with military honors by the U.S. Navy will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Lutheran Cemetery, Natoma, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rogers, AR.
