Obituary

Kirwin resident, LeRoy Eller, passed away at the Phillips County Hospital, Monday, October 20, 2014 at the age of 82.

He was born July 1, 1932 IN Harlan, KS the son of Derwin William & Thelma Mae (Hand) Eller.

He was united in marriage to Helen M. Manion on February 28, 1953 in Lebanon, KS.

He was inducted in the US Army on March 26, 1953 and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He drove supply trucks and received his honorable discharge on March 17, 1955.

When LeRoy returned home he continued to drive trucks until he went to work for Conrads Irrigation. He helped with sales and installation of pivots.

Then in the early 70's his passion for mechanics moved him and his family to Phillipsburg where he worked on the trucks for Royal Brand, Saunder's Trucking, Rider Trucking, then Koch Truck Line.

LeRoy semi-retired from mechanic work, he then worked at B&B in Phillipsburg, pumping sand until his full retirement.

When he wasn't doing mechanic work or pumping sand, you would find LeRoy fishing or hunting. His other passion was his motorcycles, which he continued to ride until his 80th birthday.

Survivors include his wife Helen of the home; his son, Willie Eller and Daughter, Donita Winters, both of Phillipsburg; a brother, Dutch Eller of Gaylord; 2 sisters, Val Redinger of Cawker City, KS and Donna Eskew of Oklahoma City, OK; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Deane Eller; sister, Wanda Cooper ; daughter, Susan Eller; a son, Glenn Eller; and a grandson, Daniel Collins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 in the Nazarene Church in Gaylord, KS, with Pastors Keith Sears and Brian Loreg officiating. Burial will follow in the Gaylord Cemetery.

LeRoy will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
