Lewis A. (Doc) Pumphrey, Jr., son of Lewis Alexander Pumphrey and Vandella Jones, was born May 15, 1935 in Fall River, KS and passed away September 13, 2014 at his home in Glade, KS at the age of 79.

On August 30, 1953 Lewis married Patty Jane Wheaton in Phillipsburg. They lived in Phillipsburg and later Glade, KS. To this union 3 sons were born: Foy, Wyatt & Clinton.

Lewis worked in construction for many years then was a salesman for numerous companies. Later he worked on tack and helped in the family western shop. As a family they traveled to many horse shows.

Survivors include his 3 sons; Foy and wife, Debra of Eagle Rock, MO, Wyatt and wife, Sheary of Phillipsburg and Clinton of Glade; 5 grandchildren: Jasmine Gimeson and husband, Zach of Phillipsburg, Abra Pumphrey of Fayetteville, AR, Zachary Pumphrey of Plainville, Levi Pumphrey of Phillipsburg and Matthew Pumphrey of Glade; sister, Janette Wheaton of Kensington; brother, J.B. Pumphrey and wife, Frankie of Muskogee, OK; sister-in-law, Vage Pumphrey; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty in 2011; father, Lewis; mother, Vandella; brother, Joseph; and sisters, Helen and Shirley.

Cremation was planned. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade, Kansas in memory of both, Doc & Patty, with Pastor Gary Davison officiating.

Friends may sign the book Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
