Linda (Weigel) Flipse passed away on August 17th, 2018 after a long, courageous battle to a complicated heart surgery at the Nebraska Medical Center of Omaha, NE.
She was born October 3rd, 1947 in Colby, KS. Her parents were Leo and Vera (Childers) Weigel. Linda attended elementary school in Monument, KS; graduated from Oakley High School and earned her Cosmetology Certification at Goodland Vocational Technical School. She enjoyed her career where many clients became lifelong friends.
Linda was committed to her faith, family, friends, and community. She was a devoted parishioner at St. Philip & James Catholic Church, took composition courses to improve her poetry, taught herself and eldest grandson to knit, and was often located in the kitchen personalizing recipes. She was a member of the Phillipsburg City Council, a volunteer for the Community Wellness Center and last employed with the local School District as a teaching assistant. Linda loved children and often made living arrangements for rescued animals – now dear companions to family and friends.
Linda is survived by her children: David Flipse and wife, Carla (Wright) Flipse, of Shawnee, KS; Christy (Flipse) Hall and husband, Charles Hall, Jr., of Elsberry, MO; Rebecca (Flipse) Huber and husband, Bryon Huber, of Kansas City, MO and Sarah Flipse of Moundridge, KS; her sister, Tammy (Weigel) Staab of Georgetown, TX; her brother, Leland "Lee" Weigel and wife, Jill (Kagy) Weigel, of Indianapolis, IN; many beloved grandchildren and dearest friend, Elizabeth "Liz" (Finley) West. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kent Weigel, and son, Curtis Flipse.
We will miss Linda's sense of humor, authenticity, spunk, generosity, poetic nature, comforting smile and compassion for people and animals. But mostly, we will miss her gentle and forever young heart.
