Linette Ann Vahle, age 63, of Norcatur, Kansas, joined her heavenly family on March 18, 2026.
Linette was born on December 31, 1962, in Alma, Nebraska, to Donald Dean Vahle and Beulah Fay Courtain Vahle. She grew up with a caring spirit that would define her entire life—always putting others before herself and offering love, support, and kindness to everyone she met.
She attended Northern Valley schools in Almena and Long Island, Kansas, and later in life felt a deep sense of accomplishment when she attained her GED through Colby Community College.
She dedicated much of her working life to caring for others, first as a cosmetologist and later as a CNA/CMA, where her compassion and gentle nature made a lasting impact on those she served. Even after stepping away from her career due to disability, Linette continued to give her heart fully to her friends and family.
More than anything, Linette cherished being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome, loved, and cared for—no matter the circumstance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Dean Vahle and Beulah Fay Courtain Vahle; her daughter, Maranda Lynn Kester; and her sister, Jonah Kay Vahle.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Randal West (Riane) and children, Riley, Adam, Roriella, and Finnley (all of Larned). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Harley (Johnathan Gassmann of New Almelo) and Sierra Kester (Colby Congdon of Phillipsburg), as well as her great-grandsons, Owen and Henry, who brought her immense pride and happiness. She is also survived by her sister, LaDonna (Kevin Hilburn of Long Island), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and extended family whom she held dear to her heart.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Long Island Community Church in Long Island, KS, with Pastor Ted Stapleton officiating. Interment will follow in the Long Island Cemetery.
Linette will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, where the family will receive friends and gather to celebrate Linette’s life during the visitation on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Linette Vahle Memorial Fund in care of Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.
Linette’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Hugunin Family Funeral Homes, Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, is in charge of arrangements.
