Obituary

Lloyd Lee Garrison, son of Lloyd Logan & Mabel Laurel (Welch) Garrison, was born on a farm near Glade, Kansas on August 24, 1929 and passed away at his home in Lakewood, Colorado on November 28, 2016 at the age of 87.

His family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1936 where he lived for 15 years, attending Government Heights and Sunnyside Grade Schools and then graduating from Tucson High School. After graduation Lloyd spent several years ranching and occasionally trying to rodeo.

He entered the U. S. Army in January, 1951 and served in the Signal Corps for 21 months, earning the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He also received a Unit Commendation and 50th Anniversary Korean Service Medal in 2001.

After his military service, Lee spent four summer fire seasons (1949, 1950, 1953 & 1954) working for the U. S. Forest Service in the Chiricahua Mountains of Arizona as well as two summer seasons with the U. S. Dept. of Agriculture Plant Pest Control.

In January, 1953, Lloyd entered the University of Arizona in Tucson on the GI Bill, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture in 1957. From 1957 – 1989 he was employed by the U.S. Government - where he worked in most of the western United states for the Bureau of Land Management in Phoenix, AZ and for the National Park Service where he was stationed in Boulder City, NV, Salt Lake City, UT, Wheat Ridge, CO and then Lakewood, CO, where he finally retired in December, 1989.

In 1962 Lee was united in marriage to Barbara Heim in Phoenix, AZ. The couple raised two daughters, Gail Lynn and Lori Lee, as well as two grandsons, Ryan and Brett Ferguson, sons of Lori & John Ferguson.

Lee enjoyed regular physical exercise and many outdoor activities including swimming, sailing, hunting, fishing, and riding horses & motorcycles. He also liked studying and investing in the stock market and reading cowboy poetry.

His parents, Lloyd & Mabel Garrison, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughters, Gail Garrison of Beverly Hills, CA and Lori Garrison of Grand Junction, CO; grandsons, Ryan and Brett Ferguson of Grand Junction, CO; and his sister, Pat Longino of Arlington, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg. Burial with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
