Lois Lola Bowman was born May 26, 1920 in Phillips County, Kansas to Rueben A. Chestnutt and Mary A. (Mitchell) Chestnutt. She passed away at the Logan Manor in Logan, Kansas on December 23, 2014 at the age of 94.

Lois was united in marriage to Lee Everett Bowman from Norton, Kansas. To this union two children were born, Virginia Kaye and Robert Lee.

After Lee's death in 1965 Lois lived with Virginia and Robert at the family's home in Logan. The trio was very close and did many things together. They enjoyed listening to hymns, country music and special songs by Elvis on their records every Sunday. The family could often be seen together on their drives to Phillipsburg and the area around Logan.

Lois supported her family by working at the Logan Manor as a nurse's aide for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and mending. She also enjoyed feeding the wild birds and caring for the family cat and dog.

Lois moved to the Logan Manor in the spring of 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William; her husband, Lee; and her daughter, Virginia.

Survivors include her son, Robert, of Logan and her brother, Melvin Chestnutt & his wife, Marion, of Ogallala, NE, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 29, at 10:00 a.m. in the Logan Funeral Home, Logan, KS, with Pastor Troy Buss officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.
